Background
Ato Matsuri Yamahoko Junko (24 Jul), the latter float parade of Gion Matsuri—usually smaller than Saki Matsuri but still a major Kyoto summer day (often with Hanagasa Junko).
Impact on travellers
Not a public holiday. Central Kyoto stays busy; lodging pressure is often a bit lower than Saki Matsuri but still book ahead. Same date as Osaka’s Tenjin Matsuri—plan if visiting both.
